ABOUT THE ARTIST
I was born in Deventer in the Netherlands and moved to Canada in 1969 with my family. I attended the University of British Columbia (UBC) for both my undergraduate studies and dentistry degree which I practiced in Aldergrove for over 35 years before retiring to the Sunshine Coast in 2014.
I now live in Roberts Creek, British Columbia with my wife Lura. I enjoy spending time with my large extended family, working in our extensive garden and travelling. I am an avid cyclist, a mercurial golfer, and a soccer & tennis fan.
As a self-taught artist, I started painting in March 2017. In the process, however, I have taken a few painting classes from both local artists, and online modules. For my artistic expression, I have often used my wife’s photographs for inspiration.
I have been enjoying the creative process and have dabbled in pencil sketches, ink, watercolour, pastels and acrylics. For now, I have decided that I will focus on acrylics and pastels. However, I am always looking for new challenges, so who knows what the future holds!
